When I was a young Emergency Dept. nurse, we had posters on the wall from Dr. Marriott with advanced ECG concepts on them. We strived to learn 12-Lead interpretation just so we could understand the information on the posters - especially how to differentiate the different types of wide complex tachycardias. It was an accomplishment to be one of the ones who could apply the information from the posters to our ECGs.
Since then, there have been a lot of posters, pocket guides, apps, and other ECG reference materials published. Some are great. Some verge on unbelieveably inaccurate. There is a lot to choose from out there. But, if you teach basic arrhythmias, or basic introduction to 12-Lead, I am sure you will love the R-CAT series from Gary Krause, RN. Through his company, EKG Concepts, LLC, Gary has produced a series of Rapid Cardiac Analysis Tools. He has worked very hard to make them easy to use, visually appealing, and accurate. There are posters, clip-board-sized tools, and pocket-sized tools. Two versions are available: R-CAT for Arrhythmias and R-CAT 12 for STEMI. All are laminated, making them waterproof, and can be marked on with dry erase markers, a great feature for the posters. The posters can be adhered to surfaces by peeling off the backing, or the backing can be left on for portability.
I teach a lot of beginner students, and also basic-level refresher ECG students. These R-CAT references are definitely designed with these students in mind. There is no "advanced" information requiring a lot of background to understand them. The graphics are crisp and attractive.
