This wonderful book by Dr. Tomas B. Garcia, MD, FACEP and Neil E. Holtz, BS, EMT-P has been in my book bag for so long, it is dogearred and worn. But, I would never part with it. If you aren't already familiar with 12-Lead ECG: The Art of Interpretation, I urge you to take a look. I have no financial interest in the book, it truly is my favorite! So here are the
Seven Reasons To Love "12-Lead ECG: The Art of Interpretation":
- It is comprehensive - this book takes you from beginner to expert.
- It is suitable for all learners: nurses, physicians, paramedics, cardiac techs, students.
- The illustrations are excellent. Especially the clear, full-size ECGs - real life ECGs, not computer generated.
- The information is presented in levels - I think this is my favorite feature. Levels are color-coded for navigational ease. Level one contains basic information. Level two, which follows the Level one material on the same page, is intermediate information for those who have mastered the basics. Level three is for those wanting more advanced information. Instead of the levels being presented as three sections of the book, each topic in the book contains all three levels.
- Dr. Garcia and Mr. Holtz have written the book in a friendly, conversation style that makes it easy to read (NOT BORING) and easy to understand.
- There are two complementary companion books. Introduction to 12-Lead ECG: The Art of Interpretation is a basic book for beginners. Arrythmia Recognition: The Art of Interpretation is a basic rhythms text.
- The companion website, http://www.12leadecg.com/, will enhance your learning by providing lots of practice ECGs and other resources.
The Art of Interpretation books are available from the publisher, Jones and Bartlett, and also from booksellers online. Occasionally, you can get lucky and find a good used copy, but most people who buy this book keep it! The publisher will even RENT copies.
